Projects

Expansion of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure
Recognising the importance of reducing transport emissions, we are actively working to install more EV chargers throughout Killarney town. This ensures locals and visitors can travel sustainably while exploring all that Killarney has to offer

Eco-Friendly Transport Options
Bike rentals, including electric bikes, and designated cycling and walking trails throughout Killarney, provide sustainable ways for visitors to explore Killarney’s stunning landscapes

Urban Farming and Local Food Production
The Killarney Urban Farm, a unique project located in the heart of town, provides fresh, hydroponically grown produce to local businesses, cutting down on food miles and embracing innovative, sustainable agriculture

Green Event Practices
Killarney ensures all events adhere to sustainable management principles, reducing waste, sourcing locally, and minimising energy usage.

Coffee Cup Initiative
In July 2023, the Killarney Coffee Cup Project was launched, aiming to make Killarney the first town in Ireland free of single-use coffee cups. This initiative is expected to eliminate over one million single-use coffee cups annually, equating to 18.5 tonnes of waste.
